Jammu and Kashmir Judicial Academy holds the rare distinction of being one of the oldest Judicial Academies in India. The Academy came into existence in the year 1972, as Jammu & Kashmir Judicial Officers Training Institute, under the visionary guidance of Hon’ble Mr. Justice Syed Murtaza Fazal Ali, Chief Justice of J&K (as His Lordship then was) to nurture the objective of providing continuous education and training for toning up professional skills and augmenting knowledge of procedural and substantive laws simultaneously ensuring holistic development of human resources involved in administration of justiceand promoting work culture, impartiality, competence and efficiency in the justice delivery system. The Academy came into its full-fledged existence in the year 2008 by virtue of Government Order No, 108 dated 16 May, 2008 and is presently functional fromtwo campuses at Jammu & Srinagar and imparting training to Judicial Officers, Lawyers, Staff of High Court & Subordinate Courts, Public Prosecutors, State Prosecuting Officers, Police, Officers from the Government departments and Principal Magistrates and Members of Juvenile Board.
